Mike Sottak

A founder of Wired Island, Mike Sottak has more than 20 years experience in high-tech marketing, business development, public relations and journalism. He has worked with a broad range of electronics industry leaders and start-up companies. He spent ten years at Cadence Design Systems, the leading supplier of electronic design software and services, where he was Director of Public Relations, overseeing the $1 billion firm’s global PR program and helping establish it as one of the world’s premier high-tech companies. Mike was also involved in many of Cadence’s critical business development, marketing, advertising and industry standard initiatives.

Prior to joining Cadence, Mike worked at start-up Gateway Design Automation, joining that company in the early stages of its development and managing its communications programs until its merger with Cadence. Mike has also been a Director of Marketing at PC Week Magazine, the leading source of news and information for the IT industry, where he oversaw a variety of communications and marketing programs. He has worked as a journalist at daily newspapers in Boston and Houston, winning several Associated Press awards for writing during his career. Mike also worked in the public relations department of the Boston Celtics during their last world championship season. He has a degree in public relations from Boston University’s College of Communication.
