Back Market

Refurbished Electronics
Back Market is the premier worldwide marketplace for renewed electronics
Back Market’s mission is to provoke global change for a more sustainable way of consuming technology

Founded in 2014, Back Market has given consumers access to high-quality, professionally refurbished electronics – everything from iPhones to laptops to appliances. Since its inception, the refurbished marketplace has been dedicated to prolonging the life of tech products to help not only reduce the environmental impact of e-waste but also to make tech more accessible. The company has continued to evolve to make the shopping experience similar (or better) to buying new and has been named a B Corporation, meeting a strict set of standards that help the company further position refurbished technology as an affordable and sustainable alternative.

Back Market partnered with Wired Island for its US launch in 2018. Wired Island developed a PR program that focused on education and revamping the reputation of the refurbished industry as a whole, with Back Market paving the way for a future circular economy in tech. We continued to lead the media relations program through years of international growth and three rounds of fundraising. Wired Island secured several feature stories, a regular column, renewed device reviews, among other results and is now mentioned alongside major players like Amazon, eBay, Swappa and even Apple.
